Skyscraper

set design - 2017

Maglev Elevator

Under the guidance of the Production Designer and Art Director, and using the aesthetic established in Skyscraper’s featured tower, The Pearl, I designed the building’s ultra-fast maglev elevator. In addition, I was responsible for producing all construction drawings and CNC files necessary for building two full-size elevator sets used for filming.

This animation showcases my work done in 2017 for the movie Skyscraper. Under the guidance of the Production Designer and Art Director, I designed The Pearl's high-speed maglev elevator along with ancillary elements like the rail column, landings and call button stand. Modelled in Maya and Rhinoceros 3D; animated in Maya.

Elevator Call Button Stand

I was responsible for most things elevator-related, including the call button stand, which was designed in the spirit of the tower itself.

Penthouse Anteroom

Working from a 3D concept model of the penthouse and its adjoining spaces, I 3D modelled and detailed the anteroom leading into the building’s penthouse suite. This included developing the functional water feature wall, the large penthouse doors and the exterior glass curtain wall.
